Cold air and moisture are on the way, and that can spell “Travel Impacts” during the weekend of Thanksgiving.
The likelihood of accumulating snowfall through the morning on Saturday is increasing, and it is looking to start a couple of hours before sunrise. Upper air temperatures are tracking to stay cooler throughout much of the day, but I do currently believe we will still have a transition to rain sometime in the mid to late afternoon on Saturday, quickly wiping away any accumulated snowfall.
For the last few runs, a lot of models are placing the rain vs snow temperature line slicing right through the metro of St. Louis, but even a slight track further north vs further south will make a substantial impact on what any one of us actually sees. There’s a sizable chance that I get to see 2-4 inches of snow in St.Charles County and if you’re in St. Louis County, you get to see half an inch of snow and a lot of cold rain. We also could all see cold rain and our friends in Bowling Green get to see all the snow.
There is still a lot of uncertainty left in this forecast, but with current trends, I would expect at least mid-day traffic to be affected on Saturday, perhaps through the evening as well.
